6th Avenue Wipeout

This story was submitted by Clifton Cloud of Saint Petersburg Fl.

In the early 80’s I was walking up 6th Ave by 55th street when I noticed a brief case, yes people carried them around then, flying up 10 feet into the air. At about 6 feet high I saw someone’s shoes and ankles.

The brief case opened as it began to fall and papers were flying everywhere. The crowded sidewalk emergency cleared and I saw a guy laying on his back and quickly surrounded by all his papers and his brief case.

Before anyone realized what was going on I heard another man incredulously state, ”I can’t believe it! He slipped on a banana peel!”

There on the sidewalk was the flattened and skid out peel for all to see. Nobody laughed except the man who pointed out the banana peel but you could tell everyone made note of it.
