Welcome to NYC Off the Grid
NYC Off the Grid is a weekly newsletter publishing NYC stories submitted by New Yorkers from around the world. The goals of NYCOTG are to keep NYC fans connected to the city from anywhere, provide a way to share NYC experiences, and be part of a global community of New Yorkers.
Why did I start this newsletter? My wife and I lived in NYC for 20 years, starting in 1995. During our time in NYC, we had countless “only in NY” experiences, lived in various parts of the city, and witnessed many changes over the years. We loved every minute of it.
In 2022, family obligations beckoned, and we moved away from New York, relocating to California. Now, without easy access to NYC, I found myself missing the city immensely. I wanted to do something to temper my FOMO and feel connected to the city again.
And that’s how NYC Off the Grid came to be. It’s a place where people can plug into NYC energy from anywhere.
